• The Kingdom To Produce Helicopters In 3 Years

    King Abdul-Azeez Knowledge and Technology City agreed to jointly engineer and produce helicopters with MK Helicopter Company of Germany. Production, development and manufacturing will take place in Riyadh at the Knowledge and Technology City.
    Prince Turkey ibn Saud ibn Muhammad Al-Saud PhD., the Vice-President of the Research Institute of the Knowledge and Technology City, said during a recent press conference that the agreement includes transferring technology to the Kingdom and that helicopters will be assembled partly at the Technology City and partly at the Space and Aeronautics Center at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. 
    It was also agreed that nano technology and advanced materials would be used in the production of helicopters, cars, electronic sensors such as cameras and lenses manufactured with nano technology.
    Prince Turkey also mentioned that there are many possible applications to this technology in medicine. Certain brain cancers have been cure with a 90% success rate using a special ion called carbon ion. There are only two other centers in the world, one in Germany and the other in Japan, that cure cancer using this technology.
    Asked about the role of Saudi women in the field of nano technology, the Prince answered that King Abdullah ibn Abdul-Azeez has opened a Nano Technology and Energy Center at Princess Nourah University for Women.
